Narrandera Sewer Reuse Scheme
Narrandera Shire Council
Funding: $905,299
About the project
The project encompasses a suite of individual projects, with a common aim of improving community infrastructure and the aesthetic value of the Shire. These projects include:
- upgrade of the wastewater treatment facility to allow more ready reuse of effluent, improving environmental compliance and improving remote control management;
- design and construction of a re-use pipeline and associated pump station;
- provision of a holding dam; and
- provision of an effluent reuse scheme, resulting in more secure water available for maintenance and upkeep of community parks and gardens, private sporting facilities and government property.
Project benefits
Small, rural communities rely on the limited resources available to them and in times of limited water supply, which impacts on productivity and farming, these facilities become even more important as a method of social interaction and relaxation. The installation of necessary infrastructure to enable the local racecourse, golf course. town parks, sporting fields and school grounds to be irrigated from treated effluent, will demonstrate a commitment to the community and its citizens.
