Palerang /MDB Water Sustainability Snapshot and Adaptation Planning
Palerang Council
Funding: $200,000
About the project
The Palerang Shire contains four sub catchments of the Murray Darling Basin. The project will apply established methodologies to assess the sustainability of the water management within those catchments and will map, measure and analyse the availability and use of surface and groundwater and document predicted local impacts of climate change.
Project benefits
This project will assess the combined aspects of current water allocations, increased climate variability and population growth on the sustainable yield of the key headwater catchments and integrate into broader initiatives and current local planning processes. It will combine results with knowledge of the past, present and future land use pressures to establish a relationship water use and sustainable yield and communicate priorities.
