Securing water access for sporting reserves within Strathbogie Shire
Strathbogie Shire Council
Funding: $18,570
About the project
The project will develop water management plans for sporting grounds identified as needing additional and better water management. This will allow the best water supply or water savings options to be identified for future implementation.
Project benefits
The planning study will determine the best water supply and water saving alternatives for the grounds within the Strathbogie Shire and help minimise the effect that climate change may have on the ability for ground managers to provide good playing surfaces at these sporting reserves.
Project completion
This project was completed in July 2010 and identifies water options and water saving opportunities within the Strathbogie Shire at the Longwood, Nagambie and Violet Town sporting reserves. This project has put the shire in a good position to pursue the identified options and to seek funding for these works, with confidence that sound planning has gone into deciding which options are the most worthy and cost effective.
