Transformation for Resilient Landscapes, Livelihoods and Communities in the Wakool Shire
Wakool Shire Council
Funding: $200,000
About the project
Wakool Shire Council's project aims to use resilience thinking and social learning to guide transformative action by the people of the Wakool Shire in an integrated and collaborative process resulting in a Community Strategic Plan. This plan will drive more traditional types of local government plans such as management, asset, community development and land use plans and will focus collaboration between key stakeholders to drive a transition to life with less water.
Project benefits
The intended outcomes from the project would include:
- adoption of a new integrated planning and doing approach based on adaptive governance and adaptive co-management principles which is more suited to managing the ongoing uncertainty and complexity inherent in climate change;
- innovative and potentially transformative livelihood strategies, resource use practices and modes of living;
- an ongoing capacity of the Wakool Shire Council and community to manage change, adaptation and transformation; and
- over time a transition to living with less water and uncertain access to natural resources.
