About the project
Wellington Council is the lead recipient for a consortium of Council's covering the regions of Wellington, Narromine, Bogan, Warren, Cobar, Bourke and Brewarrina.
The project will undertake water management planning for eight councils in Central West NSW and develop the following regional strategies:
- Integrated Water Cycle Management (IWCM)
- Demand Management
- Drought Management
- Stormwater Harvesting
- Water Quality Management
The project aims to counter the impacts of the current drought and climate change.

The project will provide a framework for a more effective and sustainably managed water supply to the area.
Project completed
This project was completed in July 2012 and resulted in the publication of the five strategies Council were funded to develop. In addition Council developed a Regional Resource Sharing, Mentoring and Training Program, installed appropriate signage at key infrastructure sites, developed their website and produced and ran a series of water conservation television advertisements.
