Preparation of Case and Option Studies Considering Sustainability Variations of Water Supplies Adversely Impacted by Climate Change
Western Downs Regional Council
Funding: $170,000
About the project
Western Downs Regional Council's project aims to develop a pathway to sustainability for the towns of Chinchilla and Bell which are considered at risk for unsustainable water supplies. Additionally initiatives that affect the long term water efficiency of the community such as development density, open and green space and building styles will be identified and developed.
Project benefits
The project will result in:
- a case study for each water supply to model the effects of climate change has had on growth and industry within the communities and its influence on future development; and
- an options study to review and develop potential alternative sources and further water saving initiatives that can be introduced. These will place emphasis on the recycling of Coal seam gas water from the nearby gas fields.
