COAG Strategy on Water and Wastewater Services in Remote (including Indigenous) Communities - Queensland

Wujal Wujal, Woorabinda, Mornington Island, Doomadgee, Aurukun and Hope Vale, QLD

Total funding: Total project cost of $11.3 million, with $8.496 million provided by the Australian Government under the National Water Security Plan for Cities and Towns (NWSPCT) and the remaining funding provided by the Queensland Government.

About the project

The objective of this project is to provide sustainable, secure and safe water supplies and wastewater services to the communities of Woorabinda and Wujal Wujal, and build capacity in a number of identified priority communities in Queensland.

The three sub-projects are:

  1. long term security of water supply for Woorabinda Aboriginal Shire Council
  2. long term security of water supply for Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire Council, and
  3. indigenous Communities Long Term Capacity Building and Sustainability Strategy Water and Wastewater Infrastructure.
