About the project
Barwon Water Corporation is constructing an enhanced recycled water plant with capacity to produce 3000 million litres of recycled water each year at Black Rock in Victoria. A pipeline between the treatment plant and the urban development site of Armstrong Creek, seasonal storages and a pump station at Black Rock will also be constructed. Balancing storages at Armstrong Creek will enable peak recycled water demands to be met and a recycled water distribution network will distribute Class A water to individual developments.
Project benefits
This project will:
- build a water recycling plant in the Victorian surf coast growth corridor capable of producing 3000 million litres of recycled water each year
- provide recycled water to a 20,000 housing growth area, and
- reduce ocean outfalls.
Progress
The project is scheduled for completion by 30 September 2013.
