The project, now complete, has demonstrated new water conservation and renewable energy features in a community environment park in metropolitan Melbourne, Victoria.

The Centre's hands-on demonstrations of commercially available energy and water saving technologies aims to educate and inspire the uptake of energy and water efficiency measures by visitors to the site.

Key initiatives

Key initiatives of the CERES Zero Emissions by 2012 project included:

Community engagement

CERES is in a unique position to continually educate students, and visitors to the site, about water and energy efficiency measures that can be easily incorporated into everyday living. New and updated energy educational units for upper primary and secondary students are used and regular school and community site tours are conducted; complementing other community engagement activities.

More than 450 000 people visit CERES Community Environment Park each year including 65 000 tertiary and school students, allowing CERES to develop and deliver interactive educational activities for visiting groups and school students.

As part of the CERES Zero Emissions by 2012 project, CERES conducted self-guided trails, workshops and demonstrations.
