Green Precincts Fund
The Green Precincts Fund's objectives are to support project initiatives that encourage water and energy savings measures at the community level.
The Green Precincts Fund was announced in the 2008-09 Federal Budget, with funding of $15 million over four years, to support at least 10 high-profile demonstration projects.
Support was announced for the Essendon Football Club in Melbourne of up to $1.5 million towards water and energy efficiency measures for the Windy Hill Green Precincts project. Also, as part of the Government's 2007 election commitments, support of $100,000 has been provided to the New South Wales South Coast community group Clean Energy for Eternity towards a detailed scoping study into a NSW South Coast Solar Farm.
The Green Precincts Fund supports the Water for the Future framework to secure the long-term water supply for all Australians, as well as the Solar Homes and Communities plan to encourage local communities to better manage their water and energy use for current and future generations.
