Project location: Oberon, New South Wales
Funding recipient: Oberon Council
Total Australian Government funding: $2,325,000 (GST exclusive)
Water savings: up to 200 ML/yr
About the project
Oberon has two principal stormwater catchments. The largest of these is located to the north, comprising the majority of the developed urban environment.
The stormwater from this catchment will be transferred to a storage pond prior to its use for industrial purposes.
Infrastructure constructed under this project will include a harvesting pond, storage pond, pump stations, package treatment plant and transfer and delivery pipelines.
- reduce the demand for potable water by up to 200 ML/yr, and
- will supply part of the existing annual water demand for the Oberon Timber Complex, which is the town's largest employer and largest water user.
Stormwater Harvesting and Reuse projects are funded by the Australian Government's Water for the Future initiative.
