Woy Woy Peninsula, New South Wales
Australian Government Funding: $4,500,000
About the Project
The Water Quality 2010 initiative has been developed by Gosford City Council to improve the quality of treated water, reduce the occurrence of discoloured water events, and facilitate maintenance and monitoring of the water supply. The plan comprised of capital works, maintenance activities, monitoring and analysis, management, operations and communications. The Australian Government contribution supported the capital works components, ensuring that on completion of the project, the water quality on the Woy Woy peninsula will be on par with that of other Australian cities.
The project has contributed to:
- improving the region's water quality to meet the 2004 Australian Drinking Water Guidelines;
- reducing the incidence of discoloured water and community complaints; and
- assisting in the protection and management of the region's water supply system.
The project is now complete and the final report is available below.
Water Smart Australia projects are funded by the Australian Government's Water for the Future initiative.
