On-Farm Irrigation Efficiency (Pilot Projects) Program

The Australian Government aims to put rural water use on a sustainable footing. The On-Farm Irrigation Efficiency (Pilot Projects) Program is part of the $5.8 billion Sustainable Rural Water Use and Infrastructure component of Water for the Future.

Pilot Project Funding

The Pilot Projects Program aims to test delivery models for acquiring water savings from future on-farm works programs with the experience and information gained to help inform how the Australian Government will work with irrigators in the future.

Funding under the Program is restricted to organisations with demonstrated experience in dealing with, and having direct links to, significant numbers of on-farm irrigators.

Following an initial stage inviting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) outlining prospective projects from appropriate delivery partners, a small number of applicants have been invited to proceed to a second stage and asked to submit more detailed proposals by 1 August 2008.

Following assessment of these proposals, it is expected that the Minister for Climate Change and Water will announce successful recipients later in 2008.
