About the report

This project developed monitoring protocols and rapid assessment methods for determining wetland health to assist diagnosis of wetland stress and performance measures for management, rehabilitation and restoration programs.

The project determined the usefulness of applying methods developed as part of the Monitoring River Health Initiative (now AusRivAs) to the monitoring and assessment of Australian wetlands. The AusRivAs model predicts the invertebrate community that would be expected to occur at a site if no human impact or disturbance had occurred. A comparison of the invertebrates predicted to occur with the actual occurrence provides a measure of biological damage.
