The Australian Government has granted $1.5 million in funding to the Manningham City Council in Victoria, for their Doncaster Hill Green Civic Precinct project.

Located in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, the Doncaster Hill Green Civic Precinct project will develop a sustainability education hub and integrate it into a new state-of- the-art multi-purpose community centre, which houses a regional library.

The Doncaster Hill precinct will showcase sustainability and assist in developing a broader best-practice sustainability plan for the region.

Linked to key education and building industry institutions, the sustainability education hub will provide ongoing opportunities to actively engage the wider community to choose a more sustainable path.

Water: 8ML Energy: 2,065,000 kWh CO2 emissions: 2,360 tonnes

ML = Megalitres    kWh = kilowatt hours

The Doncaster Hill Green Civic Precinct project is one of a number of high-profile demonstration projects to be undertaken with funding from the Green Precincts Fund.

The Green Precincts Fund is an Australian Government initiative to prepare Australia for a future with less water and to encourage local communities to better manage their water and energy use for current and future generations.
