The national guide has been developed jointly by the Australian Government and state and territory governments to contribute to fulfilling paragraph 92(ii) of the National Water Initiative which is to:
develop national guidelines for evaluating options for water sensitive urban developments, both in new sub-divisions and high rise buildings.
The national guide is a useful information tool for urban planners and development assessors and will encourage national consistency in the assessment of water sensitive urban developments.
