About the project

The project is to develop Maranoa Regional Council's Urban Water Management Plan.

Project benefits

Through the development of this plan Council will be able to:

  • examine water and sewerage services, infrastructure capacity, condition and performance in relation to community and business needs;
  • assess potential impacts of climate change, water availability, aging infrastructure, future social and organizational changes; and
  • develop realistic strategies and actions to address the ongoing needs for sustaining services and addressing real funding gaps.

Project completion

This project was completed in November 2011 and resulted in the development of a very comprehensive total management plan and strategic asset management plan. The "Maranoa Regional Council – Regional Urban Water Management Plan" is a community wide planning resource which can be used for future planning for water saving initiatives and highlights future infrastructure requirements.
