About the plan
This management plan has been developed to guide the sustainable management of commercially harvested crocodiles in the Northern Territory. The plan satisfies the requirements of section 303FO of the Commonwealth's Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) as a Wildlife Trade Management Plan and the legislative requirements of the Northern Territory Government as a management plan under section 32 of the Territory Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act 1976 (TPWC Act).The plan also aims to meet community expectations that crocodiles harvesting methods will not breach the NT Animal Welfare Act 1999 and the Code of Practice on the Humane Treatment of Wild and Farmed Australian Crocodiles. This plan is current for a maximum five-year period from 4 December 2020 to 4 December 2025 as per the requirements of the EPBC Act.
