In June 2016, the Northern Territory Department of Primary Industry and Fisheries confirmed to the Department of the Environment that Arafura Aquatic Fish Pty Ltd no longer requires, or seeks to retain, export approval for specimens of giant clams (Tridacna squamosa). Therefore product harvested from the company cannot be legally exported after 30 June 2016.
Arafura Aquatic Fish Pty Ltd can re-apply for export approval for specimens of Tridacna squamosa at any time in the future.
