Haliotis discus hannai (Pacific Abalone) and Haliotis rufescens (Red Abalone)

Comments invited

The Department of the Environment has received an application and draft assessment report under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 to include Haliotis discus hannai (Pacific Abalone) and Haliotis rufescens (Red Abalone) on the live import list for research.

The report has been prepared against the standard terms of reference and assesses the suitability of these species for import into Australia.

Comments are invited on the draft report. It is available for public comment for 40 business days, closing on Tuesday 10 February 2014. All comments received will be provided to the applicant to address in finalising the assessment report. Any relevant information provided will be considered by the Department prior to briefing the Minister.
