Proposed Management Plan – Whole Plant Sustainable Management Plan in NSW 2018 - 2022

Comments invited

This plan has been prepared by the Office of Environment and Heritage, NSW for consideration as an approved Wildlife Trade Management Plan under section 303FO of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (the EPBC Act). It is proposed that, should the plan be approved, it will be in force for five (5) years from the date of the declaration.

About the management plan

The Office of Environment and Heritage issues licences under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 to persons seeking to harvest or grow whole protected plants for commercial purposes. 

This management plan refines and consolidates the existing licensing framework to deliver on two objectives: first that regulation is targeted toward species at risk from unsustainable harvesting and second that best practice management is applied consistently across NSW.

In accordance with the provisions of section 303FR of the Act, you are invited to comment on this proposal. Please submit your comments by 9 November 2017.
