About the proposed management plan:

The primary goal of the management plan is to ensure that the commercial harvest of kangaroos is ecologically sustainable and to provide an alternative management approach for reducing the damage caused by overabundant kangaroos. This will be achieved through the application of the best available scientific knowledge, best practice management and monitoring of outcomes to ensure the viability and welfare of kangaroo populations is not compromised by any action undertaken in accordance with the management plan.

The management plan relates only to the commercial harvest of red (Macropus rufus) and western grey (Macropus fuliginosus) kangaroos within Western Australia.
